Curriculum
At Libertas Scholars College Prep, we are committed to providing a rigorous and well-rounded curriculum that prepares our students for success in higher education, careers, and life. Our standard curriculum consists of the following categories.
Mathematics
Our Mathematics curriculum combines innovative and traditional teaching methods to engage students logical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. We require each student to take at least four math courses in their high-school career. The usual subjects in order of teaching are: Algebra 1 → Geometry → Algebra 2 → Precalculus → Calculus. These courses are all available in both an on-level and honors style course. Additionally we offer AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Statistics, and other advanced math courses for the students to be able to personalize their learning experience.
Science
Our Science curriculum allows students to take an interest in the natural world by exploring the world around them through scientific inquiry. Students get both theoretical lecture and hands-on learning in the classroom with experiments and projects. We require each student take four years of science courses in their high-school careers. The usual subjects in order of teaching are: Biology → Chemistry → Physics. In the fourth year students will get to choose from a variety of options including, Environmental Science, Physics C, Astronomy, etc. Science courses will be offered at both the on-level and AP level.
English
Our English curriculum get students engaged in critical thinking, using the socratic method as well as develops the necessary language skills for academic learning abroad. Students will take an English class each year for all four years of their high-school career. Our curriculum integrates literature, writing, language arts (grammar), and public speaking to offer a well rounded curriculum. English courses are offered in on-level, Pre-AP, and AP style classes.
Social Studies
Our Social Studies curriculum allows students to engage with the history and organization of the world through exploration and historical analysis. Students are required to have four years of Social Studies to graduate. Years 1-3 are Geography & Culture → World History → US History. Year four is a choice between social science classes such as: Psychology, Sociology, Government & Politics, Economics, & European History. These course are also available at the AP level.
World Languages
Our world languages curriculum is designed to develop students' proficiency in languages other than English. Allowing students to connect across cultures. We offer courses in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Korean.
Fine Arts
At LSCP we value learning in all its forms. We know that the arts are a valuable form of expression and help students analyze and interpret the world they live in. We encourage our students to be creative in and out of the classroom. We offer arts programs in many siciplines and aid our students in finding the best resources for them.
Physical Education
Healthy minds exist in healthy bodies, so we encourage our students to keep an acitve lifestyle with our fitness, health, and wellness curriculum. Students are able to participate in sports, and can delve into a health education with our Health & Ethics class.
Career and
Technical Education
Our career and technical education curriculum is designed to provide students with practical skills and knowledge for future careers. Students get to explore their interests before making the commitment of a four year degree. We offer courses in computer science, engineering, business, and health sciences. Students may also choose to engage in appropriate internships, competitions, & mentorships for their chosen profession.
Electives
In addition to our robust academic curriculum, we believe in developing the student as a whole by engaging them in their areas of interest. Our expansive elective catalogue allows students to engage in subjects that interest them with obvious real-world value such as: business, music, computer science, debate, arts, social issues, natural science and many more. Students are required to take two elective classes per year and many of these classes are offered at the AP level.
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
AP classes are an essential part to a students resume and experience in preparing for college. All of core courses and many of our electives are offered at the AP level. The curriculum for these classes comes directly from College Board and our teacher collaborate with educators around the world to ensure that our students have the vert best resources available to them. These courses are taught at a college level and prepare the students for college coursework. Students who score above average on the exams will be eligible to earn college credit at their chosen institution. This is an advantage we offer our students so they can have a more individualized and worthwhile college experience.
